Stormy Strong may just now be starting to approach gale-force, but the rock music the band is conjuring and performing has been brewing for some time. After years adrift on his musical journey, they say somewhere off the coast of Bermuda, singer Stormy found the powerful forces he had been searching for in musicians jubal numinosum (formerly of Ghost Tree), Spencer Thompson, and Reuben Youngblom (of The Metronauts). Their talents lending a determined new strength to the band, they quickly weighed anchor and with all on board, agreed to a course at full speed ahead.
Stormy Strong casts melodic hooks to the hungry masses and the band’s intense live show is leaving swelling crowds helplessly singing along! Their music embodies darkness and light with the promise that even in the depths of despair, a glimpse of hope remains. Their sharpened new sound draws on each member’s diverse musical talents and influences all well anchored by Stormy’s strengths as a songwriter. With a combination of unique vocals, musical style and unforgettable anthems, Stormy Strong is quickly charting a magical course through the new music industry.
Formerly the frontman for a successful California pop-punk act, Stormy found shelter in his musical vision. With years of traveling between coastal fishing towns, being trapped in near deadly storms at sea and spending a lot of time on various seaside docks, these maritime adventures have all had a profound influence on his songwriting. Stormy’s lyrics are emotionally charged, epic dramas, with a strong list in the storytelling direction. In 2008 Stormy found the crew that would undeniably shape Stormy Strong.
Now continuing into 2009 Stormy Strong’s music has been featured on tv (and MTV), internet radio, podcasts and college radio as well as an increasing demand from both digital distributors and peer to peer file sharing networks. Stormy’s self-titled EP has received a number of awards and accolades since its release in 2006. “Save You” won the Billboard World Songwriting Contest in 2008 and the Great American Songwriting Contest in the Alt/Rock genre in 2007. Also “Save You” was a West finalist in the Disc Maker’s Independent Music World Series
2007. Stormy was recognized for his music at the 2006 Taxi Convention in Hollywood by legendary record producer Michael Lloyd. Stormy Strong is already capturing the attention of music lovers everywhere. In 2007 his song “Sail Away” made the cut onto SF’s KGO-Radio’s “The Best Music You’ve Never Heard” and similarly “Save You” made it onto the renowned Chicago Podcast “The Best Radio You Have Never Heard”. The band is currently working hard on a record scheduled to be recorded this spring and supported throughout the summer.
