GRAIN plays a well crafted blend of Rock and Americana music featuring Mandolin, Slide guitar, keyboards focusing on superbly arranged songs and great vocal harmonies. Formed by long time collaborators Mark Ruffing & Sean Woodward after developing the songs and playing together live for a number of years; the duo enlisted a group of veteran musicians with a wide range of musical influences.

Mark & Sean formed the band SoundPoets which played the bay area for a few years; Sean & some of the Sound Poets became the band Dooleyhill also playing the bay area for about 5 years. Sean has performed with various bay area bands. Mark has been one half of The Ings a popular San Jose Duo as well as performing with the Night Crawlers. John Thomson & Dave Irvine played together for years in the popular north bay band Boxcar 6. Jeff Bierach has been a member of the Night Crawlers. Dave Willyard is a veteran player who has performed with many bay area bands of various musical styles. This group of talented musicians believe in collaboration and free exchange of ideas from all genres and love playing live! The sound of Hammond organ or lilting Slide guitar will draw you in but the superbly crafted, arranged songs & vocal harmony will keep you listening!
